To my friends in Norway (particularly those of the Cafe Fiasco) who were upset that President Obama didn't stay for the whole Nobel party thing, I just want to say that we're sorry that our President couldn't stay after being presented the Peace Prize.
First, you have to know that most of us over here don't think that he really deserves it yet (though many of us are hopeful that he eventually will) so the "speech and run" thing make a little more sense in this context, but also this is just how the guy is. As he says, he's busy. He's got a couple of wars to run and our economy is falling apart and members of his own party are stabbing him in the back in his main domestic initiative. He's like to hang around but he's got things to do. Plus he's an Amercian and we're always doing something.
I'm sure that he would have liked to stay for the concert and to rub elbows with the King, but he's got a superpower to run. If you wanted someone to stick around, you probably should have selected someone who didn't have such a demanding day job.
